Want to make a difference? Here are five ideas:
1. Get educated. Go to a town or city council meeting to find out what kinds of things people are unhappy about. You might learn about a local issue that sparks your interest and inspires you to make change. Go for it!
2. Organize. Mobilize communities to donate, volunteer, or advocate for causes important to you.
3. Disrupt. There’s no need to accept the status quo. Stand up against everyday injustices, challenge unfair policies, and champion causes you believe in. Taking part in letter-writing campaigns and creating petitions that call for change are great ways to get involved.
4. Speak out. Call, write, or meet with public officials and community leaders to educate them about important issues.
5. Get in the race. If you’re a girl, run for student council. If you’re a woman, lead by example and consider running for elected office.
The G.I.R.L. Agenda Powered by Girl Scouts is a nonpartisan initiative to inspire, prepare, and mobilize girls and those who care about them to lead positive change through civic action.
