S'mores has been a long held tradition in the U.S., whose popularity has widely grown all over the world. In fact, we now celebrate a
National S'mores Day annually on August 10!
S'mores is the shortened version for "Some More" -- as in, "Can I have S'more, please?"
This tasty treat was popular with both Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts in the 1920's. In 1927, a recipe for "Some More" was published in "Tramping and Trailing with the Girl Scouts." Since then it has been a time honored tradition with Girl Scouts, leading up to the Girl Scout S'mores™ cookies, available for the first time this year as part of the new Girl Scout cookie line up!
S'mores are traditionally made by roasting marshmallows over a camp fire until golden brown, then sandwiching the gooey treat between two pieces of graham cracker, after adding a block of tasty chocolate of course! A tasty treat on a cold, outdoor evening of camping. Today, there are many different ways to make this popular treat.
Girl Scouts S'mores cookies are one variation of this yummy goody. We've updated the modern S'mores snack with our own twist! We took a crispy graham cookie and double-dipped it with a yummy creme icing and a scrumptious chocolatey coating so you get all the flavor of this fireside favorite without the sticky mess. Made with real cocoa, this new cookie, is vegan, and free of artificial colors and preservatives.
So . . . How do YOU S'more?!
Cookie Season starts on February 4. You can find a Cookie Booth near YOU, here!
