Salinas Troop Uses Cookie Earnings to Help Community

This year Girl Scout Troop 33158 of Monterey County voted to spend their cookie sale earnings on purchasing backpacks and school supplies as part of the United Way Monterey County's "Stuff the Bus" program.
This program makes it easier for children to be ready for the first day of school by giving them backpacks, notebooks, pencils and other school supplies.

The girls of Troop 33158 voted as a troop to select this as their service project. They worked together to create a budget and then shopped at Target to purchase the needed supplies and backpacks. Pictured is the day the backpacks and supplies were delivered to the drop off site at the Westridge Rabobank in Salinas.

The United Way Monterey County was able to provide 3,335 students with backpacks and school supplies this year, helping families in need and easing the burden of the costs of buying back-to-school supplies at the beginning of the school year.

We want to congratulate Troop 33158 and all of those who supported them and helped give back to their community!
