Celebrate Brownilympics May 6 & May 20 in Thousand Oaks and Simi Valley!

GSCCC Kicks Off Brownilympics in Thousand Oaks on May 6 and Simi Valley on May 20 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.!

Brownilympics is a day of sports and fun for first grade Daisies, and second and third grade Brownie Girl Scouts held each spring. The event, which is run by fathers, features a patch design contest, as well as auditions for girls to sing the National Anthem at the opening ceremony.

Beginning in 1984, the Brownilympics started when the Olympics were coming to Los Angeles. Since 1984, over 15,000 girls have received Gold Medals for their participation in this highly popular event.

The day itself begins with a parade of troops, followed by the opening ceremonies. The theme is "Every Girl Goes Home a Winner" and the purpose is to enhance each young girl’s self-confidence through a day of fun and healthy outdoor activities. Each girl, along with her troop, can participate in a variety of events.

Girls compete within their own grade level in the four individual events:

  • Obstacle Course
  • 50 Yard Dash
  • Soccer Dribble
  • Softball Throw
Relays are made up of teams from each of the troops and are divided into three divisions: younger, intermediate and older: Inner Tube, Sack Race, 200 Yard; and Hop, Skip, Jump and Run.

After all the events are completed, just prior to the closing ceremonies, there is a special “Participation Medal Ceremony” where every girl not placing in an event receives her well-deserved Brownilympics Medal.

The event focus is on the Brownie Athlete Legacy Badge, Fair Play, and Daisy Step Two, Bridge to Brownie Award. The fee is $15.00 and includes event, event patch, and medal. (Girl Scout Program Badge and Daisy Bridging Award are not included).
