Girl Scouts Participate in MLK March in Oxnard
About 600 people marched through the streets of Oxnard in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. on Monday, January 16, 2017.
This year's program theme was "Unity through Love and Awareness."
A slew of local politicians and civic leaders attended the march. Ventura County Supervisor John Zaragoza presented a commendation certificate for the Martin Luther King Jr. Committee of Ventura County on behalf of all the supervisors.
Local Girl Scouts from California's Central Coast also participated in the peaceful march to commemorate Dr. King's birthday.
The march started at Plaza Park at 8 a.m. and ended at the Oxnard Performing Arts Center.
Oxnard High School student musicians performed at the Arts Center, followed by a commemorative program.
