The venue was absolutely beautiful, and a big shout out to the Palm Garden Hotel and Brendan’s Irish Pub for hosting us this year! The event was a huge success thanks to over 250 guests who supported Girl Scouts of California’s Central Coast and Camp Arnaz through our silent auction, limited opportunity drawings and the first ever “sit-upon matching gift challenge”.
A few of you wondered - what is a sit-upon?
It’s a Girl Scout
tradition inspired from a 5-gallon paint bucket. Girls pack their camping supplies in buckets
and use them to “sit-upon” around the camp fire. It also helps to reinforce only packing what they can carry and
that “less is more”. Outdoor
experiences build confidence and self-reliance – critical life skills that are
part of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience. Help us spread the word as we “pass the
virtual sit-upon” to raise money.
Support us with the sit-upon matching
gift challenge for Camp Arnaz Picnic Tables, inspired by a GSCCC
volunteer and donor. Our generous donor will generously match $2,500 if we raise $2,500
for a total of $5,000 to replace damaged picnic tables at Camp Arnaz. To donate please click here and select Camp Arnaz Program
Center to help us reach our goal of $2,500 by the end of September.
